Donna Meadows Art
Contemporary Abstract Sculpture & More
From a young age, I have been actively involved in the creation of art, beginning with the guidance of my maternal family members who taught me the techniques of sewing and embroidery. I have since honed my craft and developed a strong interest in a myriad of techniques and disciplines, including sculpture, fiber art, and the use of cement in outdoor sculptures.
Fiber art, which I create using a combination of thread, fabric, and wool fibers, is sewn together by machine or by hand, and is often embellished with beaded ornamentation. These pieces are transformed into art wall hangings and decorative vessels.
To create sculptures, I use a scroll saw to cut insulation board using my own designs, and subsequently blend recycled paper with junk mail, empty toilet paper rolls, and empty paper towel rolls to produce a malleable, clay-like substance. I employ this mixture, along with plaster and/or cement, to construct both indoor and outdoor sculptures crafted from recycled materials.
I look forward to more learning and experimentation to continue on my journey.
